Wild Wild Wow

To speak truly, few adult persons can see nature. Most persons do not see the sun. At least they have a very superficial seeing. The sun illuminates only the eye of the man, but shines into the eye and heart of the child. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Rachel brought Angel to the nearby park to catch some insects for her Science project. While Rachel was busy looking for her insects, Angel immersed herself in picking the wild flowers among the wild grasses.

“We only picked those on the grass because I know we can’t pick those in the bushes,” said a sensible Rachel.

It’s amazing how the few strands of limp twigs put the brightest smile on the two ecstatic faces. They took out one feeble stem after another from their loot bag accompanied by “oohs” and “aahs”. Every little stalk to them is like the most stunning art pieces they have come across.

I gave them a little bottle to arrange their pretty collection. Even I couldn’t help but stopped to admire their beautiful creation. The plants are indeed exquisite, but it’s the way they handled the vulnerable stem with extraordinary tenderness and affection that really touched my heart.

Kids nowadays are mostly surrounded by technologically advanced gadgets. But the power of nature still never fails to bring out their most primitive joy.

The plants wilted shortly after. But the bliss they experienced will not wither.
